Making Adolescent Mental Health Care a Priority for Schools
Dareecha is a digital portal for schools implementing the Zero Suicide model. It offers screening, referral, and teletherapy with tailored interfaces for students, teachers, princi pals and therapists. It collects data throughout the adolescents’ care journey.

Being suicidal is isolating and deeply painful. In Pakistan- and other LMICs, mental health care is scarce and stigmatized. During adolescence- a time marked by uncertainty, change and pressure to belong- it is even more challenging. Adolescents often depend on parents who lack knowledge of symptoms and pathways, delaying care for upto 8-10 years.

PHC Global piloted the Zero Suicide Model in schools in Ghizer, Gilgit, a region marked by recurrent suicide rates.Implementation challenges made apparent the need for a digital portal to build an evidence base and institutionalize mental health support in schools.

Core Design Principles
Our priority was to thoughtfully simplify complex protocols for the portal’s multiple users: students, parents, teachers, therapists and administrators. Together with the Global Health team, we mapped a way forward.
